It is with sadness that I need to tell you that we have had to cancel in-person worship due to the increasing spread of COVID. Bishop Susan Bell announced this difficult but necessary step to help slow this increasing spread.
I grieve that we must cancel in-person services for Christmas again this year, but I also have a feeling of relief that we are taking the safest course of action to navigate our way safely through this newest surging wave of the COVID virus.
This means that there will be only online services for Christmas again this year.
Farewell Gathering Canceled and Interim Announced
It has been a weekend of mixed emotions here at St. George’s.
We had to cancel the social activity we had planned for this past Sunday afternoon for us to formally say our goodbye, as I prepare for my new ministry in Brantford in January. I am sorry that we didn’t have that opportunity to formally give thanks for the ministry we have shared together over the last 20 years, but we all understand our current situation.
There was some joyful news on Sunday as the warden’s were pleased to announce that the Rev’d Owen Ash would be coming as Interim Priest-In-Charge on January 1st. I am so pleased that you will be in his capable and caring hands as he helps shepherd St. George’s through the coming months of transition ahead.
These are challenging times for all of us, but I continue to give thanks for the wonderful support and care that our parish community has for each other and our wider community.
Have a safe and healthy Christmas and please join in our online worship as we celebrate the birth of Jesus.
Peace,
The Rev’d Canon Rob Park
