Preparing for the Holy Spirit

Welcome to your online Sunday worship from St. George’s, Georgetown for Sunday, May 16, 2021.

Just a note to remind folks that I am on a short but much needed break and return next Sunday for Pentecost. The Thursday morning online gathering continues this week and next, but I will be linking to the diocesan Facebook and YouTube pages for our online worship.

I remain available for pastoral emergencies, so please call the church 905-877-8044 and press 2 at the prompt and you will be connected directly to my cell. If I am unable to answer, please leave a message and I will return your call as soon as possible.

Family Ministry

This week our family ministry resources focus on the reading from The Book of the Acts of the Apostles, Acts 1:15-17, 21-26. It is the story of the calling of Matthias. In our weekly Sunday email, there is the link to the Family Page and a link to some fun colouring and activity pages that have something for every age.

Please sign up for our weekly emails to get those links to these great resources to use together with your family.

Opening Music

As the church will have celebrated Ascension Day this week, I am suggesting we start with the hymn “Hail the Day That Sees Him Rise.”

Diocesan Online Worship

There is an order of service available on the the diocesan COVID-19 Resource Hub for this weeks worship. And here is the link to the diocesan Facebook page where the video of this Sunday’s Diocesan Online Worship will be live-streamed at 10am.:

Click the image above to go the diocesan Facebook Page. No Facebook Account is needed to watch the service.

The service is live at 10am or a recorded version can be found there and also on the diocesan YouTube Page after the live stream is complete.

Prayers of the People

We pray for all medical staff, all essential frontline workers and their families, for those living and working at Long Term Care and seniors residences, and for those that are helping to distribute the vaccine: that God will be their strength and support.

We pray for all who are facing trials and difficulties and for those who are sick. Show them your kindness, mercy, and healing. God of love, hear our prayer. AMEN.

(To find the list of those we are praying for in our parish please sign up for our Parish email. To add a name to our prayers please contact me.)

Closing Music

For closing music this week, I would suggest the hymn “Love Divine, All Loves Excelling.”

And for a contemporary song, I suggest the uplifting song “Lord I Lift Your Name On High.”

I wish you all a blessed and safe Sunday and week.

If you haven’t joined in our Thursday morning online gathering, it is a wonderful time of fellowship. We reflect on current events, share stories, and end with a short time of prayer. Look for the link in the Wednesday email!

Thank you for your continued support of the ministry and mission of St. George’s. I do look forward to us being able to gather together again in-person when we are able.

Be Well and God Bless.

Peace,

The Rev’d Canon Rob Park
