For the well-being of all in our community and that of our parish and at the Bishop’s direction, St. George’s will be temporarily suspending our worship gatherings starting this Sunday, March 15. St. George’s will also be suspending all other in-person church related gatherings at the church until future notice.
This is, of course, due to our desire to protect our whole community during the reality of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This action, like many of the actions being taken across our society, is intended to reduce the opportunity for the virus to be spread.
For all the members of our church family at St. George’s, I want to reassure you that even with this suspension of services, our parish will do its best to offer you and our wider community support and prayer.
Our faith can and will be a strength on which we will each need to draw on. Even in the face of the uncertainty and concerns caused by this virus’ spread and impact, Christ’s call to act with love and compassion with each other will continue to guide us to care for each other, even as these restrictions to our normal activities present challenges.
The term “Social distancing” which is new to our common vocabulary, does not mean we need to be alone.
God is always there for us and is always present to us when we turn to prayer. Christ is also able to work through you and through others. Even without our regular ways of gathering St. George’s community, I will be encouraging us to stay connected with each other. These email communications will continue and will be as frequent as we need to stay connected. Phone calls, email, and other ways of connecting will be tools to keep us supported.
In the coming days, we will continue to find ways for us to connect, care, and to support each other in Christ’s Name.
Yours in Christ,
The Rev’d Canon Rob Park
