Family Ministry – March 2017

Hello St. George’s Families,

As I write this we have had several days of mild temperatures and much of the snow has melted. I hope that when you receive this, that is continuing. I long for spring.

pancakes2017Shrove Tuesday, or as it is more commonly known, Pancake Tuesday is Feb. 28. Tickets are available on a Sunday or at the door. The organizers would appreciate knowing if you are coming to help them plan supplies. Call ahead at the Church (905-877-8044) and tickets will be waiting for you at the door. This is a great time for the St. George’s family to gather and enjoy a meal. It is also a night when you don’t have to cook or do dishes! Pancake supper is between 5:00 and 7:00.

On Wednesday, March 1 there is the Ash Wednesday service at 7:00. It is a solemn service of reflection and the imposition of ashes. If you cannot make it that night we will be doing the imposition of ashes at Messy Church on March 8.

Messy Church will be March 8 and the theme is a Lent. There will be a short reflection posted the day before. We have started something new at Messy Church, an adult only craft. The adults make something that looks great, while the kids can either continue with the other drafts and the help of one of the Messy Church leaders, or watch Mom or Dad create. The kids, as usual, make some cool things as well. We will be having pancakes, sausages and fresh fruit. As noted above we will be doing the imposition of ashes as well.

Planning is under way for St. George’s Kid’s Camp which is July 3-7 this year. It is a half day camp from 9-noon and open to kids between the ages of 4 and 9. The theme this year is Hero-Central: Discover Your Strength in God. The kids will be Super Heroes as they do super experiments at Discovery, harness their creativity at Crafts, enjoy some great games, learn about people in the Bible at Storytelling and hear about Super Heroes in our community. Snacks, their own Super-Hero T-shirt and a CD with the Hero Central songs are all included. The cost is $40.00 per child. A registration form will be available on the website shortly. Our camp always fills up, so make sure to get your application in. Applications and fees can be left at the Church on Tuesday or Thursday when the office is open or Sunday morning or mailed.

Hope all is well and I am looking forward to seeing you, either at St. George’s of our and about in Georgetown.

Blessings,

Nancy
