Family Ministry – October 2016

Greetings St. George’s Families,

Canadian Thanksgiving is tied to the end of the harvest, when the people of God pause to reflect on the bounty of creation and the many gifts that God gives to us. The response to any generous gift should always be ‘thank you’. As you gather around your Thanksgiving feast take some time to give thanks to God, the true ‘founder of the feast’. A very simple grace to say at the Thanksgiving table is. “Thank you God for all that we are and all that you have given us. Amen”

Messy Church is October 12 and the theme is “I am the vine, you are the branches”. I have added something new for Messy Church. My hope is that each Messy Church will include an ‘adult’ craft and that it will be something that you will actually be pleased to take home and use. I promise it won’t involve toilet paper rolls! This month we will be having lasagna (no turkey as I am sure we have all had our fill of turkey for the time being). Doors open at 5:00.

September’s Men’s Dinner

For the guys at St. George’s there is the Men’s Dinner. They meet once a month and together put together a meal on a particular theme. In September it was an Icelandic theme. It is a chance for the men to have some ‘guy time’ and show off their culinary skills. October’s Men’s Dinner is the 26th.

Plans are moving along for our annual Christmas Bazaar which is November 5. If you have items you would like to donate or could bake some fancy Christmas cookies for the cookie trays (always a big seller at the bazaar) leave a message at the Church and someone will get back to you.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Nancy
