Nancy’s Family Ministry Letter – April 2016

Greetings St. George’s Families,

I hope you had a wonderful Easter with some time to relax among the festivities (as well as some chocolate!). Winter is finally on its last legs and the signs of spring are everywhere. It is great to not have the pre-school hunt for matching mitts. Bikes and basketball nets have re-appeared and the sounds of kids playing on the street fills the air. New life is all around us.

St. George’s is working hard at managing our resources, including our financial resources. Just as in a family, knowing how much money is coming in each month helps to manage our resources, so too it is for St. George’s. With your tax receipt you received a note asking for an amount that you are able to pledge to St. George’s for 2016. Returning that form helps the volunteers who work at managing the budget to plan with a degree of confidence. Please prayerfully and thoughtfully consider what you can pledge and return the form. It can be put on the plate on a Sunday, dropped off at the office Tuesday or Thursday, mailed in or left in the mailbox at the side of the Church. It is also available on the website here.

2016MessyChurchMessy Church this month is April 13. Doors open at 5:00. The theme is New Beginnings and a reflection, as usual, is on the back. We will be having a sausage casserole this month. Please consider inviting another family to come with you. There are some great crafts and the kids will be trying something new this month.

Planning has begun for this year’s Kid’s Camp. Kid’s Camp is from July 4-8 and runs from 9:00 to noon. The theme this year is Surf Shack: Catch the Wave of God’s Amazing Love. There are games, snacks, stories, crafts, science and on the last day our amazing, super fun water gun fight. Registration forms are available. The cost is $35.00 a child and includes a CD and their own Surf Shack T-shirt. Kid’s Camp is for children 4-9 years of age. If you e-mail me (nrowe@stgeorgesgeorgetown.com) I can send you an electronic registration form.

On April 16 there is a Work Day at St. George’s. If you can spare a couple of hours on the Saturday to come and help the Property Committee with jobs that need doing around the Church the help would be much appreciated. There are a variety of jobs, so if you hate raking, no problem there are lots of other things that need doing.

Hope all is well and I am looking forward to seeing you at Messy Church, at Church or out and about.

Blessings,

The Rev’d Nancy Rowe
