Family Ministry – Feb. 2016

Greetings St. George’s Families,

IMG_1143Soon we will be entering the season of Lent and Lent is the theme for this month’s Messy Church which is February 10th. February 10th is Ash Wednesday as well. We have some great crafts to help families as they journey through Lent. My favourite is a Lenten mouse with a long tail. Every time you do an act of kindness you tie a knot in his tail so that hopefully by the end of Lent your mouse has a short, knotty tail. We will be having pancakes and sausages for supper that night.

Vestry is Sunday, Feb 7 at 11:00. There is no 11:15 service that day. Vestry is the fancy Church word for the Annual General Meeting. This is an opportunity for everyone to gather to discuss the ‘business’ of St. George’s and talk about the direction we want to go for the following year. This is an important meeting and all who can attend are encouraged to do so. Vestry will be finished before lunch.

On Feb 9th St. George’s will have the annual Pancake Supper. Traditionally this is the time when all the ‘goodies’ are consumed in preparation for the beginning of Lent which starts the next day. The supper is from 5:00 to 7:00. The cost is $5.00 per person or $20.00 per family. Tickets are available at the Church office on Tuesday and Thursday or Sunday at Church. There will be tickets at the door, but if you choose to buy tickets at the door, could leave a message at the Church so the kitchen team have an idea how many people are coming, that would be helpful.

I hope all is well. If you are lucky enough to get some time away in the sunny south, I wish you safe traveling and a relaxing time to ‘rejuvenate’.

Blessings,

The Rev’d Nancy Rowe
