The church season of Advent has begun. The liturgical vestments and adornments of the church have changed colour. In this season of the church calendar, we are preparing ourselves for the celebration of Christmas, the birth of Christ.
To help you prepare, I want to give you the times and dates of our Christmas services. These services do a great job to help us remember, reflect on, and give thanks for the gift of Jesus Christ.
It starts every Sunday as we move through Advent and reflect on our need and world’s need for Christ (8am, 9:30am, and 11:15am! Ha ha).
Messy Church has a very special Christmas Pageant tradition that involves everyone who comes. Wednesday Dec. 13 at 5pm.
Then we move to the Nine Lessons and Carols service, in its own special way tells the whole story though readings, prayers, and songs. That service is Sunday Dec. 20th at 7pm.
Of course, next is Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
At 5pm, we have our service geared to families with younger children. We sing carols, hear and reflect on the Christmas story, and have Holy Communion together. Beautiful, Joyful, and always moving.
At 7pm and 9pm, we offer two traditional services with carols and Holy Communion, with the parish choir adding to our singing at the 9pm service. Holy, Uplifting, and Fulfilling.
On Christmas Day at 10am, we have a wonderful and warm celebration of the birth of Christ. We will sing, pray, and hear read the Christmas story. Holy Communion will also be offered. Peaceful.
It will help you to be prepared by marking a service or two on your calendar.
