The nice weather has finally arrived. All creation sings with joy. The summer is coming up fast and I hope you have some plans to get away as a family and spend some quality time together.
We have found that the June Messy Church has low attendance. The weather is nice, baseball and soccer have started and families are busy with outdoor activities, which impacts attendance. We have decided to end Messy Church for the year in May. The May Messy Church is on May 13 and we will be having a BBQ. The theme is ‘Go’.
Just to update you on the heating system replacement. We are at the half way point in our fund raising. The work has begun on the electrical system update. There are special envelopes available marked Boiler Update for donations. I will have them available at the next Messy Church. No donation is too small, or for that matter, too large 🙂
One of the community programs that St. George’s participates in is the Fresh Food Box. Fresh fruit and vegetables are available in a family size, medium size and single person size boxes. As much as possible, the produce is locally sourced. It is a very good value and great quality. The box is available once a month on the 4th Tuesday of each month for pick up at St. George’s between 4:30 and 7:00 PM. The money needs to be paid at the Church 10 days before pick-up. Contact Janet (stgeorges@haltonfreshfoodbox.com) if you would like to purchase a box or have more information.
Just a reminder about St. George’s 2015 Kid’s Camp which is from July 6-10. The theme is G-Force: God’s Love in Action. Camp runs from 9:00 – 12:00 each day. The cost is $35.00 and includes a T-shirt, music CD, crafts, snacks and a lot of fun. Kid’s Camp is for kids between 4 and 9. I will have registration forms available at May’s Messy Church. Registration forms are also available online. We always have a great time and end Kid’s Camp with a massive water gun fight. If you, as an adult, would like to be part of the fun, I can always use an extra pair of hands. Just let me know. You do not have to volunteer for the whole week.
Looking forward to seeing you at Messy Church on May 13, or on Sunday or just out and about in Georgetown.
Blessings,
Nancy
