St. George’s is proud to announce that our guest preacher this Sunday at the 9:30am service is Dr. Jeff Sutherland. Dr. Sutherland and his family have been long-time members at St. George’s and Jeff served as a chalice bearer for many years at the 9:30am service.
In 2008, Jeff was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and although the disease has progressed, Jeff’s strength, courage, and faith (and the support of his wife, children, family and friends) has enabled him to focus on “the things he can do, not the things he can not do.” In 2009, Jeff helped found the Georgetown/Acton Walk for ALS to raise awareness, help families dealing with ALS, and encourage research into a cure. Now a yearly event, the Georgetown/Acton Walk for ALS has raised over a million dollars for the ALS Society of Canada.
We are looking forward to his message and to his and Darlene’s presence with us this Sunday, April 19th.
The Georgetown/Acton Walk for ALS is set this year for June 6.
