Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the church’s season of Lent. As the Book of Alternative Services says in the service for Ash Wednesday,
“We begin our journey to Easter with the sign of ashes, an ancient sign,
speaking of the frailty and uncertainty of human life, and marking the penitence of the community as a whole.” (page 281)
The service is both solemn and is a time for self-reflection.
Everyone is welcome.
