Not Nancy’s peas!

Greetings St. George’s Families,

Spring is finally here and thankfully that long, hard winter is fading in memory. I have planted peas in my garden and the first green shoots are already up. Easter truly marks the beginning of new life.

We are in the season of Easter in the Church, the time between Christ rising from the dead until his Ascension into heaven and the coming of the Holy Spirit. This ‘between’ time is the theme for Messy Church this month. Messy Church is May 14 from 4:30pm – 6:30pm. There is be a post going up next that I would encourage you to read that will help you prepare.

On Tuesday May 20 at 7:30pm interested (and interesting) people gather at the Shepherd’s Crook for the Spirited Study, a discussion of faith in our every day lives. We decided to explore how God speaks to us through the movies and TV shows that we watch. We arbitrarily chose a movie, this year’s Oscar winner 12 Years A Slave. We watched this last month and this month we are gathering for a discussion.

Fresh Food Box is a program that St. George’s participates in, both as volunteers helping to assemble the boxes and as people who purchase and distribute them. A box includes fresh fruits and vegetables, with as many as possible being sourced locally. It is a very economical. A family size box is $17.00, a couple size box is $11.00 and an individual size bag is $8.00. If you would like to order a box, simply bring in your money to the Church office by May 16 and pick it up at St. George’s on May 27 between 4:30 and 7:30.

Just to remind parents with babies (0-mobile) that Baby Talk happens in the lounge at St. George’s from 10:30am – 12:30pm on Fridays. This is an opportunity for parents to gather, chat with other Mom’s and consult with the lactation consultant. It is a great way to get out of the house and meet other Moms.

We are preparing for this summer’s Kid’s Camp, July 7-11 from 9:00am to 12:00pm. The theme is Workshop of Wonders with Andy the Ant. Kid’s Camp is for children 4-9. It includes a T-shirt, CD with the songs, games, crafts, snack, music and a whole lot of fun. Registration forms are available at the Church office, online here, or e-mail me (nrowe@stgeorgesgeorgetown.com) and I will leave you forms in the mailbox at the parking lot entrance for you to pick up at your convenience. The cost is $35.00 per child. If you would like to be a helper at Kid’s Camp let me know. Even if you only have one day free, I can find you a spot to help out.

We are also running a full day (9:00am – 3:00pm) camp on the PD Day June 6. The cost is $20.00 for the day and includes snacks, lunch, games, crafts and fun. Registration forms are available at the Church office, online here, or again I can leave one in the mailbox for pick up.

Enjoy spring and all the good gifts that God so freely give us. See you soon.

Blessings,
The Rev’d Nancy Rowe
