The Pancake Supper
St. George’s is hosting a Pancake Supper on March 4 from 5:00 to 7:00. It is traditional to prepare for the season of Lent (a time of fasting and self-examination) by having a party to use up all the sugar and fatty good stuff in the pantry. What better way than by cooking up stacks and stack of pancakes!
Dinner will include pancakes and sausages, with tea/coffee/or juice.
Tickets are $6.00 for one, $10.00 for 2 or $20.00 for a family.
Tickets are available at the Church office, office@stgeorgesgeorgetown.com, or call to get tickets set aside. Tickets will also be available at the door.
Ash Wednesday
Ash Wednesday is the day that begins the Lenten season, during which we prepare ourselves spiritually for the celebration of Easter. A traditional of the church is to gather for a special, solemn time of prayer during which we reflect with honesty on our human shortcomings and mortality. An important part of this time of prayer is the ceremonial “imposition of ashes.” This year, on Ash Wednesday, March 5, the “imposition of ashes” will be included at both our monthly “Messy Church” gathering in the church hall from 4:30-6:30pm and at a church service at 7pm. All are invited.
