Winter is on its last legs and I am longing for spring. The red wing black birds are usually the first birds back and I find myself listening for their distinctive call already. I am starting the planning for our summer Kid’s Camp and so thoughts of summer are in my head! Kid’s Camp is the second week in July, as always, and so July 7 -11.
This month we are moving Messy Church one week ahead so it will be on March 5 this month. The Camera Club is also meeting that night so we will be starting Messy Church at 4:30 and will be done by 6:30. This puts it on Ash Wednesday and we will be doing the imposition of ashes at Messy Church again this year. We will be having pancakes and sausages for supper that night with fruit for dessert.
Church School at St. George’s happens at the 11:15 service and a nursery with child care is available as well at that service. Church School begins at the back of the Church with craft and activity pages and then the children leave during the sermon for games, a snack and discussion and then return for Communion.
The Pancake Supper is March 4 with pancakes, sausages, tea/coffee/juice served from 5:00 to 7:00. Tickets are $6.00 for one, $10.00 for 2 and $20.00 for a family. Tickets are available at the Church office or you can call (or email office@stgeorgesgeorgetown.com) ahead and get tickets set aside. It is a great evening and a chance to meet the people that make up St. George’s.
The Ash Wednesday service happens at 7:00 on March 5 (or come to Messy Church where we will also be doing the imposition of ashes). This is a wonderful way to begin Lent, the journey to Easter.
I wish you a wonderful and illuminating Lent and look forward to seeing you.
Blessings,
Nancy
