Greetings St. George’s Families,
Although not officially, but for all intents and purposes, IT’S SUMMER!!! I hope your vacation plans are shaping up nicely and that you are taking every advantage of the lovely weather. It is so nice to be back in sandals again.
Church School
There is no Church School on June 10. On June 17, The “Widow’s Mite” and a recap on the Fruits of the Spirit will be the topic. June 24 marks the last day of Church School until September and there will be a PARTY!
Summer Services
Summer services at St. George’s reflect the slower pace of summer. The 11:15 service goes on hiatus starting July 1 and resumes Labour Day (September 2). During the summer, the 9:30 service on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Sunday of the month is Traditional and the 2nd and 4th Sunday is Contemporary. Messy Church also takes a break during the summer and resumes September 12.
Messy Church
Messy Church this month is June 13 (as usual the doors open at 5:00). The theme is ‘The Footprints’ and centers around Jesus gathering his first followers. Jesus’ first followers were fishermen and so we will be having Fish and Chips with coleslaw. As usual, there are some cool crafts.
Baby Talk and Toddler Time
Baby Talk and Toddler Time (toddlers to pre-school age) will both stop during the summer, with the last gathering being June 22. If you have some free time and would like to gather with other parents and babies/children for a ‘play date’ both these programs run from 10:30 to 12:30 on Fridays.
PD Day Kid’s Camp
Our last PD Day Camp is June 8. If you have school age children and are looking for something for them to do that day, consider St. George’s PD Day Camp. The cost is $15.00 for the day and includes lunch, snacks, crafts, games and a lot of fun. This month we will be doing some ‘Survivor’ type challenges as part of the day. Registration forms are available here.
Summer Kid’s Camp
Our Kid’s Camp this year is “Operation Overboard” and runs from 9:00 – 12:00, July 9 – 13. The camp is already about a third full, so don’t wait too long to register. There are never any spots left! The cost is $35.00 per child and includes a CD, T-shirt, crafts, snacks and a lot of fun. Registration forms are available here, from the Church office or call 905-877-8044 to make arrangements to pick up a form. If you would like to be a volunteer at Kid’s Camp, let me know. You do not have to make commitment for all 5 days, we will gladly accept what you can do.
Spirited Study
The Spirited Study this month is June 13. We have decided to continue the discussion around last month’s theme ‘When our integrity hits the thorns of life’. Spirited Study is an informal discussion that happens at the Shepherd’s Crook at 8:00pm. Some people have a late supper, others enjoy a glass of beer or wine, andothers a cup of coffee.
Blessings,
The Rev’d Nancy Rowe
