Hi Church School Families,
This month’s e-mail is a bit early as I wanted you to have the information for Holy Week. Easter is almost upon us and I wish you much joy in this wonderful season in our Church year. Christians are an Easter people. I would urge you to consider coming to not only the Easter service but also as many of the other services offered during Holy Week as you can. In living through the grief and blackness of Good Friday, Easter morning is extra meaningful. The services for Holy Week are as follows:
Toddler Time is up and running. It happens on Fridays from 10:30am -12:30pm and is for children who are mobile up to school age. The hall is open with a sand play area, balls and lots of space to run around. Coffee is on for the Moms. We need volunteers who are willing to be the ‘friendly face of St. George’s’, put on the coffee and be there for the two hours. There is a sign up sheet. Thanks to Jen Kuhnule for taking the lead for this new venture. There will be no Toddler Time or Baby Talk on Good Friday.
At the 11:15 Sunday Church School this month April 1 is Fruits of the Spirit, April 8 Easter, April 15 Lydia, Marth and Mary (the mother of Jesus), April 22 Mary of Magdala and Miriam. There is no Church School on April 29.
Messy Church happens on April 11 this month and the theme centres around the disciples realization that Jesus had risen. We will follow the story of two of the disciples as the leave Jerusalem to walk to the village of Emmaus and enter in conversation with a stranger on the road about everything that had occurred. Supper will be ham and scalloped potatoes, with a surprise dessert. Doors open at 5:00, but come (and leave) as you are able.
The Spirited Study at the Shepherd’s Crook this month is April 18. We had a fabulous discussion around the book “The Shack” by Wm. Paul Young. Haven’t read the book? Not to worry. People seem to be able to enter into the conversation easily without having read the book! It is an interesting read though. We gather at 8:00pm.
Anglican Men’s Club Dinner meets on April 25 at 7:00pm. Each month they have a themed supper (in March it was a traditional Jewish meal).
The PD day Kid’s Camp is April 27. $15.00 includes crafts, games, snacks, lunch and fun for kids 4 – 10. There are a few spots left if you would like to register your child. This is a full day program from 9:00 – 3:30.
We have already received registrations for our Kid’s Camp (aka Vacation Bible School) from july 9 -13. This is a half day program (9:00-12:00)for kids 4-10 years of age and includes a Tshirt, CD, games, crafts, snacks and lots of fun. Registration forms are available at the Church office, or just call and we will leave one in the mailbox for you to pick up at your convenience. The cost is $35.00 per child. The theme this year is Operation Overboard.
Have a wonderful Easter.
Blessings,
Nancy
