Pentecost Marks A Step In The Right Direction

Pentecost Sunday celebrations around the Diocese of Niagara were to be important opportunities for evangelism and hospitality in every parish. For St. George’s, Pentecost marks the first steps along the way to growing on our mission to proclaim the gospel message of Jesus Christ.

Bunches of brightly coloured balloons were among the finishing touches that help underline the festivity, along with cake at our coffee hour. The Parish Choir sang a special anthem at our 9:30 service. Everyone had been encouraged to invite a guest be they family, friend, or neighbour.

Helen Vandermey, our parish Evangelism representative, worked hard to co-ordinate and encourage the hospitality during our celebrations. She continues her work and ministry among the congregation and hopes that our parish evangelism will continue to become stronger. She along with two other members of our congregation are planning on attending the Magnetic Church Conference being offered in the diocese in September.

As Pentecost marks the “birth” of the church, we pray that our celebrations this year will mark the beginning of Spirit led renewal in our parish.
