Yard & Bake Sale Fun

Although the damp weather kept us inside the hall, our second parish yard sale went on as announced. Over a dozen families from the parish participated and provided, mainly, used items of all shapes and sizes for sale to raise funds for the St. George’s. From furniture to home electronics, from kids toys to potted plants, all kind of interesting item were available for purchase.

Each family that participated provided donated not only their items but each was responsible for providing the salesmanship of their own previously enjoyed items.

New to the sale this year was a bake sale. With the help of many fine bakers in the parish, a wide assortment of cookies, pies, and squares were also on sale in the front foyer.

Paul Skuriat, the organizer of the event, announced how pleased he was with the event this year. He did hope that we might have better weather next year which would allow us to set up on the lawn of the church. It would certainly give us better exposure to the potential customers driving by on Guelph Street. Some of the parish youth were enlisted to take a sign out to the sidewalk and draw the attention of passing traffic to our sales. Paul also thanked all who helped to make the day a successful event.

By the end of the day, over two thousand dollars was raised for the church. Good work!
