St. George’s Hosts Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols

St. George’s Anglican Church is hosting a traditional ‘Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols’, 7:30 p.m. Sunday, December 19 at the historic church, 60 Guelph St., Georgetown.

The Reverend Rob Park, Rector of St. George’s, recognizes the importance of time-honoured celebrations to mark the birth of Christ. “Even in the consumer culture we live in, the act of giving still plays an important role in the Christmas Season. In our worship services at St. George’s we focus on the gift given to each of us by God in the Christ child, a gift chosen by God with ultimate thoughtfulness, care, unexpectedness, and generosity. With the Festival of Lessons and Carols we are especially reminded of these things.” he said. The Festival has long been popular with the residents of Georgetown.

The program combines alternating reading of biblical scripture and singing of seasonal carols. The Parish Choir, the St. George’s Singing Angel Children’s Choir and the Men’s Chorus will perform the carols under the direction of Ron Greidanus, now in his fifth year as Music Director for the church.
